Green stone blessing and maori culture

We were told it was a tradition to receive a green stone (pounamu) when you are guests in a Kiwi home.

Not only did we receive each a wonderful looking greenstone Toki necklace from Lisa and Stewart, but we had the privilege to have a maori blessing ceremony for our stones. They were purified the maori way, and now it is up to us to give them the power and meaning that makes the most sense to us.

Here are the meanings of the different shapes:

Blessing:

When the blessing was done, Aaron and his nephew showed us a Haka and the traditional use of the taiaha (maori wooden stick), historically used to fight

Alltogether, it was quite a intense moment.

Thank you so much Aaron for your time and passion.

Thank you Lisa and Stewart for allowing all this to happen and for these wonderful necklaces.

xoxo
